Thai Black Glutinous Rice, also known as sticky black rice, is the unpolished, whole grain of traditional sticky white rice, commonly served in Asian restaurants, especially Thai restaurant. Despite its name, the colour of the rice is closer to a deep, dark purple. Like its white counterpart, Thai Black Glutinous Rice has sticky individual grains and can be used in sweet and savoury Asian dishes. Thai Black Glutinous Rice contains anthocyanin antioxidants which also help to protect the body from heart disease and certain type of cancer, Thai Black Glutinous Rice contains low quantities of sugar and also contains beneficial plant compounds and fibre which are known to protect the body from diabetes and cancers.
