Description:Heera Red Chowri (Red Mung Beans Cowpeas)
Cowpeas, also known as Red Chowri are a pulse and are cultivated and used as food throughout Africa, Asia and South America. When cooked these beans have a sweet and nutty flavour.

Recipe for Cowpeas with Spinach
Ingredients: 1 cup cowpeas, soaked overnight, 2 cups spinach leaf chopped, 1 chopped onion, 4 chopped green chilli, 3 finely chopped garlic pods, 4 curry leaves, 1/2 tbsp mustard seeds, 1 tbsp cumin seeds, vegetable oil, 1 tsp salt.

Method: Pressure cook soaked cow peas and keep aside. In a heavy bottom pan heat vegetable oil. Add mustard seeds and cook for 1 minute. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves and chopped garlic and cook until garlic turns light brown. Add onions and green chilli and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Add spinach and mix well. Add cooked cowpeas and salt and mix. Remove from heat and serve with naan, chapatti or rice.

Store in a cool dry place, away from strong flavours.
