Description:Yaki Nori (for sushi)

Maki sushi, or literally "rolled sushi", involves fresh ingredients and sushi rice wrapped inside a seaweed sheet (nori) and rolled using an obento bamboo mat. These rolls can be enjoyed whole or sliced into smaller pieces and are traditionally served with soya sauce, wasabi and sliced ginger.

Nori maki - sushi rolls

500g cooked short grain rice, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 5 sheets nori seaweed, wasabi, your choice fillings - tuna, avocado,crab meat etc.

1. Sprinkle rice vinegar over cooled rice and mix through gently
2. Place nori seaweed, shiny side down on the bamboo rolling mat
3. Spread vinegared rice evenly over nori, keeping about 2 cm at the far end of the sheet from rice
4. Dab a small amount of wasabi along the rice in a straight line. Place the fillings for your roll on top of the wasabi
5. lift the front of the bamboo mat closest to you and begin to roll the sheet tightly. Just before reaching the end of the sheet wet the exposed strip with a little water. Apply gentle pressure to join the edges of nori.
6. The rolls can be eaten whole or sliced with a wet sharp knife.
