Helping out in the kitchen as a child, Lian has a great admiration for her grandfather because of his interest in, and knowledge of traditional Chinese nutrition.
The captivating aroma of Bakuteh, a type of herbal soup was a great favourite prepared and served by her food - loving, yet health conscious grandfather! Such dish has brought about a sense of festivity to Lian's family as well as entire neighbourhood. Therefore, it was the Bakuteh business that Lian found her fortune. Everyone in the village frequented Lian's stall for a delectable Bakuteh and yam rice meal early in the morning.
After countless hours of study and research on the traditional concepts of Chinese nutrition, Lian's Bakuteh spices is her way of sharing her wealth knowledge, so that you and your family can enjoy Bakuteh in a healthy, traditional way easily.

Ingredients (A):
1 kg pork ribs/legs (scald in boiling water for 3 minutes and rinse, marinate with Lian's herb)

Ingredients (B):
2 sachet Lian's Bakuteh spices, 3 whole garlic, 6 Chinese mushrooms, 1.6 litres of water

Seasoning (C):
3 tbsp light soya sauce, 1 tbsp dark soya sauce, salt to taste

Cooking Instructions:
Bring the 1.6 litres of water to boil with ingredients B. Add in ingredients A and cook for 15 minutes. Add all the seasoning C and bring the contents to a boil again. Lower the heat and simmer with the pot covered for 45 minutes. Serve hot.
(Slightly press the Bakuteh sachets before discard.)
In a large clay pot, heat water to boil and add in Lian's Bakuteh spice sachet. Lower the heat, and simmer until the aroma is fragrant; at least 30 minutes. Then add in the pork ribs (if using) and continue to simmer.

Ingredients:Angelica Sinensis, Codonopsis Pilosula, White Pepper, Llicium Verum, Cinnamon, Licorice, Syzygium Aromaticum.
